Interiors composed for the people who live in them.

0104

An art-driven interior design studio in San Francisco. Personal, collected, never prescribed.

The designer is not the protagonist; the client is. Pastarello listens first, then edits, interprets and elevates what is already there.

Craft

Most of what makes a Pastarello room is made for it: upholstered in the Mission, cast in Berkeley, cut from a slab chosen in person.

Upholstery

Mohair on frames built for the room.

Metalwork

Unlacquered brass, left to age.

Glass

Smoked mirror, antiqued by hand.

Drawing

Pencil first, samples on the table.

Approach
  1. Listen to what you own and love.
  2. Read the architecture.
  3. Edit; half a room is taken out.
  4. Layer periods and the unexpected.
  5. Make the pieces the room needs.
  6. Stay through the year after.
